IP Office DECT

The IP Office platform has various compatible DECT handset ranges, including the Nortel DECT handset range which is now fully compatible as of IP Office 7 in 2011. However, the main range of DECT handsets for the IP Office platform is the IP Office 3700 range.

IP Office 3700 DECT Range

The IP Office 3700 DECT range consists of four models, the IP Office 3701, IP Office 3711, IP Office 3720 and IP Office 3725.

The 3725 and 3720 are the current models although we have many custopmers still using the 3711 and 3701.

Typically, a 3700 phone is connected to the IP Office phone system via a series of base stations interspersed throughout the facility so that as you are walking through your business premises, as you go out of range of one base station you will fall into the range of another.

Thus, using the Avaya 37 series, all the features of Avaya IP office are at the reach of users in businesses with large physical spaces (ie factory floors, warehouses).

The IP Office 3700 DECT range delivers high-quality wireless voice communications to employees who roam within a building or campus. The handsets offer all the benefits of the DECT standard, including high security, scalability, low power consumption and long talk/standby times. For users, the handsets offer productivity features like SMS messaging, a Bluetooth headset interface, and PBX features like hold, conferencing and messaging. To simplify management, they support remote configuration over the air or via cradle, 19 built-in user interface languages, and options for both IP DECT and ISDN DECT radio base stations.

IP Office WiFi or IP Office DECT?

Telefonix Voice & Data can do both IP Office WiFi and IP Office DECT solutions to meet a variety of needs, allowing you to select the best choice for your needs.

An IP Office DECT network offers a secure, dedicated voice-only network in an assigned frequency band to minimize or eliminate interference. It also requires significantly less planning and is consequently more easily scalable. DECT handsets tend to be low-cost. However, since it is optimized for voice, DECT offers lower data bandwidth to the handsets making it appropriate for basic, text-based applications. DECT requires installing and maintaining a separate wireless network. DECT should be considered for environments containing many other types of wireless devices, such as RFID equipment or scanners, which may interfere with each other.

An IP Office WiFi phone network offers a converged voice and data network, requiring maintenance of only a single network. WiFi handsets offer higher data bandwidth. However, with WiFi, handsets may be a more significant cost and require additional planning to ensure optimal voice quality and coverage, compared with DECT. Due to differences in the radios and algorithms, WiFi handsets also offer less standby/talk time when compared with DECT.
