An auto attendant is an automated system designed to guide a caller through the options of a voice menu. The auto attendant is typically set to answer and route incoming calls: call 01252 333 888 to hear the Telefonix auto attendant. What auto attendants allow are such things as "press one for sales, two for orders and three for any other enquiries".
We put great effort into planning automated attendant implementations as they are a front of house tool which, unless properly done, will actually drive people away. Designing these is a process and a flow chart is a useful tool to map caller outcomes. We prefer to only give callers few choices because our experience shows that by the time it says "press 25 for widgets, round and purple" they will have forgotten what option 1 performs. And they'll probably be annoyed too. We also offer an escape route such as "press 0 for the operator at any time". Arriving at a menu that does not have the specific option that the caller wants and lacking an escape route is a guaranteed way to infuriate callers.

The auto attendant is remotely maintained and readily managed via simple telephone or web browser interfaces. Changes to the configuration e.g. options available, number dialled, out of hours changes, specific holiday closing times etc, can be made via our support service so you have complete control to make any changes you wish, any time. This is especially useful at, for example, Christmas time when offices operate unusual hours and might like to inform callers.
Auto attendants vary across system types (IP or digital) and according to Edition type, so please check with Telefonix Voice and Data before purchasing your product that your system type has the right level of auto-attendant for your requirement. For example the complexity of the auto attendant on our starter digital bundles are less comprehensive than the auto attendants that are possible on a fully blown contact cantre bundle.
