Avaya's IP Office Telephone System can function in several ways as a system for small and medium business. It can be a PBX system, a branch office, and a call centre system as well. It can be used as a PBX system using IP phones, but you can also use analog, digital or soft phones. Avaya also has two series of handsets specifically designed for Avaya IP Office, the 5400 series digital IP Office handsets and the 5600 series IP Office handsets.

The Avaya IP Office System is imbued with features designed to increase business efficiency. For example, you can use Avaya IP Office to create your call center with 'CTI' (Computer Telephony Integration). This is an IP Office feature that lets incoming customer calls generate 'screen pops' of customer information from a company database to the person's PC when they are called. Each employee can control their phone using a graphical interface on their PC screen. The IP Office interface for this is industry standard and supports use of Microsoft Outlook and other Windows applications.
