Alternate route selection, "ARS", allows the Avaya IP Office system to find alternate routes for a call in the event of line issues or if the primary route is busy. For example, if you are a company running multiple sites linked using VOIP, in the event of line failure on site 1 all outbound calls will be routed out via site 2. On a single site, IP Office can give the same resilience using a premicell.
